Complementary set of two sculptural stoneware bowls designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane for Rörstrand, Sweden, during the mid-20th century.
The larger bowl has an asymmetric, softly triangular body elevated on a patterned pedestal foot. It is finished in a deep charcoal-black glaze with subtle tonal variation and a lighter edge tracing the rim.
The smaller bowl features a compact flared form decorated with a rhythmic border of hand-painted black triangular motifs against a warm off-white glaze.
Though distinct in form and decoration, the two bowls share Stålhane’s refined approach to proportion, surface, and sculptural utility. Displayed together, their opposing palettes and varied heights create a particularly strong and graphic composition.
Both marked to the underside. Sold as a set of two.
Very good vintage condition with minor surface wear and subtle variations in the handmade glazes consistent with age and use. No observed chips or cracks. Please refer to the photographs for additional condition details.
Larger bowl: 5.5 in. wide × 5.25 in. deep × 3.75 in. high
Smaller bowl: 4 in. diameter × 2 in. high
